The fact that McEvoy's name will inevitably place this with humor is perhaps the factor that will make it possible for any father (sharing his beliefs) to give to any son, or for any son (who'd like his father to feel that way) to give to a father. No preaching, no moralizing, simply a casual, commonsense approach to life, a job, marriage, handling of women, etc., as written in a series of informal letters of a father to his son, just out of college.
