MISS RAVENEL'S CONVERSION: From Secession to Loyalty

Frankly, this strikes me as a stunt piece of publishing, especially designed for those who like period pieces, and who get pleasure out of oddities. De Forest may have been ahead of his day, in writing semi-realistic novels two generations ago, but today they date sharply. Miss Ravenel may have been a departure from the two dimensional characters of her period, but she still seems incredible. You may have gathered, and rightly, that this is an attempt to revive the faced glory of one of our almost forgotten American novelists.
