A RESTLESS BREED by J. William Terry

A RESTLESS BREED

Publisher: World

The author, who was brought up in that stretch of territory once known as the Western Reserve, has produced a kind of Spoon River Anthology- in an episodic novel- of the people on the old Reserve town of New Hartford, Ohio, a century ago. The most interesting of them, as might be expected, are the oddest, the crudest, the most violent or the most misunderstood. And Mr. Terry's journalistic background (he's a newspaper reporter) stands him in fine stead, he knows a good story when he sees one and presents it in a straightforward narrative. There is also a blunt appreciation of sex in all its marvelous variables which may make this a questionable choice for conservatives, but Terry is a writer to watch.
