YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE SICK

For those who ""gravitate from the druggist to the physician to the psychiatrist""- this diagnoses our faulty health habits and sets down some rather severe disciplines for a life free of illness- and ""crutches""- drugs. Heavily medicated as a young man, for chronic ills and a heart condition, Trop consulted all kinds of practitioners before he turned to natural hygiene- and a practising naturopath, and has been in good shape ever since. He condemns everything from artificial feeding in infancy, to candy and sweets in childhood, to alcohol, tobacco- ""a special symbol of our depravity"", coffee, tea and flesh foods. He endorses air, sunshine, water, exercise, rest, fasting, and diet- excluding everything from breakfasts (""the best- skip it"") to of course all meats. A foreword by Fred Allen softens the stringent recommendations but they are unlikely to allure the panacea-and-placebo audience more allured by honey- even vinegar.
