Don't be greedy. . . One who steals has no right to complain. . . Why we do a thing determines how we do it. . . Kent's bluntly worded morals seem redundant let-downs after the flip retelling and breezy illustration, but the selections and conclusions are more consistently accessible and concrete than in his first collection (KR, 1972) -- and thus more suited to his comic book style. As forgettable as they are lively, his pictures and retellings do lend an easy familiarity -- for what that's worth -- to such traditional staples as ""The Hare and the Tortoise,"" ""The Fox and the Crane,"" and ""The Lion and the Mouse.
