SILVER CHIEF'S REVENCE

A story of arctic spying and the acquisition of a new metal that will make space travel possible takes Mountie Peter Thorne and his dog Silver Chief on a round of adventures. After finding Russians on his Northwest Territory beat, Thorne is whisked off by officials who tell him the new metal is ""dikortium"", from meteors, concentrated only in certain spots on the earth, and able to withstand atomic heat. Up north again, he finds his Russians' huge underground headquarters- and the metal is won for the allies. Plenty of cops and robbers and bright scientific forecast, but stock characters and situations kill the suspense.
