HUNTING IN THE SOUTHWEST by Jack O'Connor

HUNTING IN THE SOUTHWEST

By

Publisher: Knopf

Most of the books of this type that Knopf (and prior to that Penn) has done -- have taken a definite place on sporting book shelves, not only for their sound content but their attractive illustrations and format. This is a new subject matter -- hunting and natural background of specific game of the desert country with its mountains and plateaus, where almost every type of large game in the U. S. can be found. He speaks particularly -- and in detail -- of Mule deer, Buro deer, white tails, desert bighorn, antelope, elk, desert pigs, wild turkeys, quail, whitewing dove, black bear and grizzlies, jaguar, mountain lions, coyote. He tells of their environment, breeding, life span, conservation programs affecting them. He tells stories of personal experiences; gives advice on the best method of hunting; and ends with sound data on the ""battery"" -- equipment-footgear-and camera.
