Hero Dane Belfast, nomo excetiens, learns how humans full of old hates and fears react to a new, genetically engineered race of supermen. Creator Kendrew spirits Dane to his sanctuary on dragon-shaped New Guinea where a superwoman, Nan Sanderson, teaches him the old scientist's secrets, helps him escape and ""Operation Survival"". There are terrifying moments and the theme of tolerance adds substance to the suspense.
