An automatic relay action for the troops of pig-skin potentials, the story provides slight continuity for the field play, most of which Occurs in two games--one the sand-lot play-off in which Tim Barlow was scouted for the big time, the other the pro-game in which he shows his stuff. Tim regrets that he is a high school drop-out; professional ball points the way to his earning the accepted trappings of secure and respectable adulthood; and, during a breather, he lights on the idea of becoming an architect. Even the jealous teamnate is a casual gesture. A weary effort to keep the ball rolling.
