KIRKUS REVIEW

Jackson uses action not as the theme but as a sidelight to the story of Andy , a very human hero determined to discover his ow capabilities rather than get by on is father's name. Everyone at Gulf University knew of Jocko Baker, nationally popular and famous . first tussle is to make the team and then the challenge is to create a name of his own. How he survives the rigorous training, the tough competition through his own skills as an athlete as well as through the diving expeditions he finds so relaxing is the central plot. There is humor in the form of friend Mike the -- in Andy's struggle -- and double sports action by way of the football field and the underwater world.
