The dossier on Communist activities in America, as compiled by Russian born Spolansky who was sought out by the Army Intelligence in 1918, later became a special agent for the FBI, and for thirty years specialized in the surveillance of subversive activities. Here is a survey of Communist penetration, largely based on his own investigations in the midwest, from secret meetings to college campuses, from industrial areas to private Clubs; the Party Line-""not a suggestion; it's an order""; the power of the Comintern and the Cominform; the strategy of the third party; the incitement of race riots; and such leaders as the red recruiter Tallentire, the braintruster Joe Kowalski, Foster, Browder and the vociferous Elizabeth Ourly Flyna. A folio on an underground, undermining force, which parallels some of the material in but does not quite match the interest of Louis Budenz' Men Without Faces (McGraw-1950).
