The internationally famous theologian analyzes the texts of St. Paul, the ""most ardent manifestation of evangelical love"". In a prefatory introduction to the apostle, Maritain shows how St. Paul's works were the first to make Christianity aware of the universality, non-sectarianism, of the Gospel. And how St. Paul contributed the priority of the interior over the exterior, faith over law, spirit over the letter, and became the great disciple of freedom. Maritain has chosen the principal passages where these themes, and contributory themes, are expressed. There is a connecting commentary and elucidation.
