MASTERS OF THE DEW

A leading Haitian poet and novelist, militant champion of the masses (up to his recent death)- here represented in a polemic, with a pagan lyricism, of the dark-skinned, superstition and poverty ridden people of Haiti. Returning to Haiti from Cuba after fifteen years' absence, Manuel brings with him a spirit of resistance and rebellion, a determination to rescue his people from their famished existence from an earth which has gone dry. Finding a new source of water, he becomes the ""master of the dew"", is killed by an old opponent because of his love for Annaise, daughter of an enemy family, but leaves his people reconciled and salvaged...A limited market.
