AN EXCESS OF LOVE

Strange are the ways of human endeavor"" and this book, full of aberrant (sado-maschistic) and abhorrent (scatological) sex is probably the most noisome yet. A hard won distinction. It is the presumptive diary of one Michael Mansell, found chained to the lavatory where he gags to death on his own vomit. Before that he has been the willing slave of his wife, Hilda, who along with their dark-skinned maid, Olive, has subjected him to various tiresome as well as exhausting indulgences, chiefly anal in character. The neatest trick of a book that is full of filthy ones is that it manages to be as dull as it is disgusting. Utterly disgusting.
