PICASSO by Jaime Sabartes

PICASSO

By

Publisher: Prentice-Hall

This attempts to be neither a biography nor an analysis of the work of the artist, but rather is it a series of disconnected incidents and impressions serving to give some insight into his thought and painting. Picasso and Sabartes were good friends, particularly from 1935 to 1941 which is the period with which this book primarily deals. From memory, here is fragmentary material of their association, the apartments they shared, the friends they shared. It sheds some light on his methods of working- he paints from ideas rather than from reality. And it also gives some background material on his childhood and the influences it has on his art.
