KIRKUS REVIEW

The Northwest (Yukon, Alaska) -- nuggets and no nonsense for Tom Jorden's attempts to prove himself in the '98 gold rush. He learns plenty of savvy, and quickly establishe himself as a sourdough when he turns out claim slickers, protects the girl he loves -- and her father -- and gets a chance, through Black John of Halfaday Creek, to practice the justice of the North on the man who had ruined his father years before. Adventurous, but not as entertaining as the Halfaday Creek series.
