PERSONAL REALISM

First, don't sell this to anyone groping for a practical philosophy or self-help book, or to anyone who has not mastered the tools of philosophical thought and concepts. Second, unless you have a sound and fairly extensive basis of knowledge of modern philosophy, with its ramifications and developments, better accept the publisher's definition of content and call it to the attention of such of your customers as are professionally interested in the subject. The layman who will be able to read it intelligently is unique. It is a mature statement of dualistic realism and a defense of the theory of inter-action between mind and body. The first third deals with matters of definition; the balance analyzes the hypotheses of realism, the rise of new realistic interpretations; he examines the relation of body and spirit, the personal being, God and his relation to the world. He advances arguments pro and con, and defines his own position and the reason back of it. Definitely a book for students of philosophy.
