In these Prie-Dieu Thoughts for Nuns, the author offers the nun at meditation some ""humble reflections"" that he hopes ""may be as seeds which, germinating in her prayerful heart, will produce the flowers and fruits of holiness"". There are fifty considerations in all, neither particularly profound in content nor poetic in style; just plain, practical talks on essential aspirations, fundamental attitudes, common difficulties and typical failings in religious life. Each reflection is followed by an appropriate concrete resolution. A scriptural quotation or one made from some classical spiritual source concludes each meditation. If the book is used on a day to day basis, the quotations can be used during the day as springboards to recollection of the lesson of the daily meditation. This is not a book to be considered indispensable, but no nun could use it without profit and it might even prove to be quite effective for certain sisters who, for one reason or another, seem not to profit from the standard books of meditation. Imprimatur.
