Here's non-fiction bait for rentals, written by an old hand who knows how to make good escape reading of period material. He scored a success with Desperate Men and The Pinkerston Story; now tells the stories of a baker's dozen of women of the mid 19th century, whose greed, lust for power and love of excitement led them to betray their country as spies or ride the outlaw trail. There is the story of ""little Jo"" Monoghan, who rode the range disguised as a man for forty years; there is Pearl Hart who was brains and brawn behind the last recorded stagecoach robbery; there was the dainty Elizabeth Van Lew who was such help to General Grant. Not literature- but good entertainment.
