A handbook of proper behavior for civilian-into-soldier, this is angled towards an easier adjustment to the forced intimacies, the official and unofficial rules, regulations and customs and the routines and attitudes of the U. S. Army. Here are the do's and don'ts expected, sometimes demanded, and always politic for the new soldier, from the new soldier, from the examinations, to the reception center, on through OCS and discharge, which should offer a safe conduct through all possible booby traps. Language and lingo, drink, sex, medical care, gambling, chow, holidays and passes, behavior towards civilians, censorships and life overseas, etc., etc., every item is briefly blue-printed to show how individual abilities and personalities may best conform. For the apprehensive draftee this should qualify as a practical manual for military good behavior.
