KIRKUS REVIEW

Human interest stories framing information for the layman on current surgical procedure -- new drugs, treatments, methods, etc. -- to combat the fears that keep many from professional advice and treatment. Tuberculosis, cancer, appendicitis, pneumonia, childbirth, diabetes, ulcers, are among the operable cases included (the outcome is usually successful) and the problems of the people involved are happily solved. An optimistic, kindly book, based on actual cases, with plenty of facts to hearten the fear-ridden and enough sentiment and drama to make it thoroughly readable.
