Not the inventive Flora's best invention but a standard device that can generally be relied upon to catch the fancy of small children. Sherwood is a lost windup bear who, once his key has been cranked around by a passerby, determines to walk straight home. This means walking very straight and his path takes him across the bottom of a pond where a fish fastens on his tail, out the other side where a cat fastens on the fish, past a dog that fastens on the cat, etc. etc. By the end of the book, Sherwood, stumping ever more slowly, drags quite a nonsense mob behind him. It looks like fun and easy for the youngest children to act out.
