This history of religion in a country in which it , was divided and continues to live though suppressed, provides the Church with study of the actual problems of Church-State relationships. It also points up difficulties which underlie the drive for recognition of religious freedom human right. Coming as this book does before the important discussions on religious liberty at the coming final session of Vatican II, it will be by many as a concrete historic example against which to weigh theoretic . Though academic in style, the book's worth lies in the value of the re especially on the process of destruction of the Catholic Church between 1917-1923.
