KIRKUS REVIEW

These placid parsonage memories, preceding and during World War I, relate how the Knox's came from Arkansas to the Shenandoah Valley and how the children, John, Ginny, Eva and James, reacted to Mother and Father and the life about them. The various incidents- their horse, Father's attempts to reform drinkers and gamblers and so on- add up to a loving recall of Methodist family life.
