Mr. Collier's thesis is that modern Western man has a sexual code that has, ince the Dark Ages, been more often observed in the breach. If it isn't fornication, t's masturbation and if it isn't girls it's boys, and if it isn't prostitution it's dultery, and if it isn't active involvement it's pornographic reading. (A short hapter on each.) After some shared reading in the history of Western Civilization, Kinsey slide rule in hand and under the ubiquitous light of Albert Ellis, the author concludes that since everybody's up to something and always has been, we should stop passing laws about it and making dirty jokes... The laws may have no teeth, but this book has no bite. The material has been well chewed over before by better essayists with more pointed arguments and less Utopian solutions to suggest and the select bibliography included at the end of the short book proves it.
