OPEN SEASON

A series of short, suspiciously moral-slanted stories for teen-agers, mostly about the tenderer emotions of adolescence. The unusual feature in this group of stories is the inclusion of confessions about love, dates, and break-ups from the young male point of view. However, we do feel that there are some serious departures from realism in this type of young teen-fiction which holds that parents are always right; that high school seniors cannot assume the financial and marital responsibilities of adults when the draft board offers a grim alternative; and that although real emotion is encountered, real living does not start until after the graduation ball. In spite of these objections, however, this group of stories does carry some healthy emphasis on inter-racial understanding, personal integrity and the value of studies.
