A successor to No Place Like Home and It Runs: in the Family, this continues the lessons learned by a family man who now houses his four children and the husbands and wives of three of them, his mother-in-law, his granddaughter, and his wife, Elinore. The home you live in, which should satisfy requirements of comfort rather than cleanliness; the likes, dislikes, compatibilities and aggravations which make up a family; the problem of age levels; the importance of a democratic and liberal home rule, what a home should teach -- and what it can't teach; fun, ideals, derelictions -- and discipline at a minimum; and so on. Limiting the infallibility of parenthood, investing it with humility and humor, this manages a very common, contemporary touch -- and is at all times reassuring, recognizable, readable.
