KIRKUS REVIEW

A small town newspaper runs a Squawk Box but Pete Ames, a young reporter, turns down Irene Brown's offer to squawk--in exchange for five thousand dollars. Her murder leads to the investigation of the men in her former life (she was a retired call girl) and it moves very fast and way ahead of the reader all the time. Lots of lip--lots of zip.
