KIRKUS REVIEW

As good as Tommy Carries the Fall, though somewhat different in approach. Where Tommy is actually learning football and making a place for himself on the school team, David was definitely an outslder when it came to the basketball team, and made his connection through his contact with the coach, his rounding up of the band, and his well election as ma. Through the story, the basic principles of basketball play and enjoyment -- are skillfully handled. An excellent first book on basket ball, for boys just under the age to play it.
