KIRKUS REVIEW

Immutable Lt. Tromp Kramer of the South African Trekkersburg Murder Squad and his faithful Bantu Zondi -- almost eliminated -- in a third case which demands your undivided attention (was the idiom this difficult before?) primarily dealing with why an abstemious, churchgoing bachelor was stabbed repeatedly with a steak knife. McClure manages to be extraordinarily blunt, literate, bloody-minded and sophisticated all at the same time which keeps these Afrikaaner Steam Pigs and Gooseberry Fools a categorical territorial imperative.
