KIRKUS REVIEW

In the California northwoods, Joe Beacon, whose disturbed wife had died accidentally, runs a hunting lodge where four couples check in for the night. Among them are his stepson, Eddie, whose moods and migraines suggest a fatal parallel, and his young wife who is caught in a hunting trap and dies of heart failure. The author draws a bead on the action potential of the situation and its aftermath, keeps it terse and tense.
