KIRKUS REVIEW

Some of the old Nordhoff and Hall magic -- adventure and romance -- although slow in starting and a difficult story-within-a-story framework. The tale of a segment of the Tonga clan and the legendary story of the Polynesian migrations, as the clan continues its long search for the Far Lands. There are romantic characters -- warlike Koros, Maui young son of the chief, the Koro maiden he loved, and the Tonga priest strong in his faith. A refreshing, unusual story of the bewitching islands.
