WILLA CATHER'S CAMPUS YEARS

By

Publisher: Univ. of Nebraska Press

A collection of short stories (6) poems, dialogues, and dramatic criticism written by Willa Cather during her student years (1890-1895) at the University of Nebraska. These pieces, per , are of varying value- the fiction is of interest in relation to her later works while the dialogues, for instance, seem very dated and singularly foolish. Of almost greater interest are the letters written by various students who knew her then- and the impressions which range from ""fervent admiration to vast contempt"" but are generally uniform in the recollection of a brilliant, eccentric girl, a ""Maverick"" given to masculine attire, assertive, able and rather lonely. Of rather special appeal, to students of her art and her most devoted admirers.
