NIGHTDANCES

A feeble little reverie out of early Sendak--in which a little Sendakian boy awakens at night, tiptoes outside, dances about (""Dance your own dance/ With the night./ Slide in shadows. Leap in light""), then is joined by his Mama and Papa for more dancing and ""soaring"" and ""swinging"" (""Papa swinging/ By his knees,/ Playing monkey in the trees"")--until they dance their way to bed. The pictures are in shades of gray, the whole thing is fuzzy, mushy lyricism.
