HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!

Molly buys two chicks for her mother's birthday; something she -Molly- has always wanted. The chicks grow, and Molly is forced to move them from the cellar to a neighbor's playhouse. Eventually, Chicken and Licken are taken in by a chicken farmer. A spoiled child, two pampered chickens, a new kitten (which, of course Mother lets Molly have, even though Mother detests cat hairs in the house), all being respectively uddled and loved, may be fun for the participants, but makes for pretty dull reading to a young audience. The flat, one color illustrations of nearly two-dimensional figures about equal the text in caliber.
