The Olivers are still living their bland existence, and once again the selection of a pet is the major family concern. Their kitten, which was obtained in Happy Birthday, Mom (1963), makes a fast getaway while the family is vacationing, so a replacement becomes de rigueur. Molly tries to promote the idea of taking home a chipmunk, but it's explained to her that a dog would be more practical. Even though the kitten was supposed to be Mom's, Molly, who always seems to get her way, is allowed to make the selection. She turns down everyone else's pure-bred choices and settles for a pretty repulsive sounding stray mutt that wanders by. The text requires a little experience in reading.
