This stupendous task is rounded out in this volume, which ends with 1917 and the entrance into the First World War. Spanning a generation, it provides entertaining and provocative recall, and some nastalgia for those of middle age. Photographs, prints, sketches, cartoons- and a running commentary which is really history in the making, makes this a good conversation piece, as well as important historical documentation. The competent research- the originality of headings, captions, etc. -- as before.
