IRREGULAR GENTLEMAN

Good personal adventure in a widely varied assortment of colorful experiences ranging round the world,- Mexico, Canada, China, Haiti, Ireland, England, the Bahamas, France, the Far East-peppered with abundance of informal local color and human interest, backgrounded with scenery and a sense of place and time. There are border incidents, ships sinking and burning, pursuit of rum runners, RAF hair-raisers from World War I, experiences aboard a freighter, the ""old club"", international social resorts, a native wedding in Haiti, adventures ad infinitum. Always he had a faculty for being in the right place at the right time for a story; he knew all sorts of people, including Floyd Gibbons, Warden Lawes, Amelia Earhart, and many of them add spice to a potpourri of an adventurous life. There is almost nothing of the ""literary gentleman"" in this portrait.
