SAINT PETER RELATES

The title poem is a very small part of a collection of poems by the best known Negro poet -- but its fame has spread, through those who read it in the limited edition of 1930 publication, and it rightfully belongs in this careful selection of the poets selected poems. His last volume of verse, God's Trombones, still sells after eight years. Many of these new poems are definitely keyed to the author's own pride of race; others are lyrics of no racial thesis; a few dialect poems are included. Sell to those who are interested in current poetry -- as well as to the educated Negro public.
