Kathy Meade has come all the way from Ohio to attend Raymond College in New England on a scholarship. This is the story of her experiences during her Freshman Year. Her roommate, wealthy and sophisticated Liz clashes with Kathy's personality and modest background, but Kathy finds friendship and good advice in her ""big sister"", Holly. Kathy resents bitterly her father's consuming involvement in the restaurant business, but despite her vow to steer clear of any man in similar work, love conquers all in the form of restaurateur, Mark Mayhew. Restricted finances limit but do not eliminate Kathy's college fun. She participates in courses, committees and dances and even wins the attention of another man. But renewed confidence and growth during her second semester provide Kathy with the maturity to make a truer romantic choice. This consistently popular field and sufficiently sentimental little will attract the female teenage audience, but nothing of substance or reality lies in store. Characters fulfill stereotyped images, and situations are hackneyed and utterly predictable.
