GRAVE OF GREEN WATER

Monica Price's body doesn't stay down (neither will some of the attendant circumstances in this somewhat overplotted story) and up she rises, after two years. Ashley Jones, an imperturbable bounder who knew her and has since married a wealthy girl, wonders--he has memory lapses: then there's the deceased's former husband: then there's a silently sinister male nurse (Ashley's father-in-law is bedbound).... It reads right along, carried by agile alternatives and surprises, and the scene is one of those deathly quiet little English villages.
