GREAT-GRANDMOTHER CAT TALES

Though Mother and Father cat don't believe a word, the three kittens are always thrilled when Great-grandmother cat comes visiting with exciting tales of her various lives--spent, as she tells it, walking a tightrope over the falls, traveling as star of the Magic Cat Lantern Show, cooking for lumberjacks who cut down a tall tree while she was in it, etc. Great-grandmother's last visit ends when, coughing and wheezing, she nevertheless hitches a ride with some gypsies, and later the family receives the jar of marmalade she promised to send when all her lives had run out. Kitten Timothy keeps her stories alive--they might be worth sharing, fibs or not, but there's nothing to this as spunky as the ""old lady"" is meant to be.
