Barbara is a bit on the meek and chaste side; her best friend is reckless, impudent, independent. Together, they help Barbara break the reins of her mother's government, and start out for themselves on a venture turning a camp into a ranch. There is the annexation of a man apiece, with the usual thorny road, but all turns out well in this best of all possible worlds. Somewhat tepid and banal.
