MY FRIEND, JULIA LATHROP

A book that seems to have been consumption, as the selection of details and facts is keyed to a warm personal interest in the subject, not to the interests of the stranger who might care to read the life of a woman who spent fifty years helping the cause of women's rights and improved social conditions. Mental hygiene was her chief interest. She was a wise and a witty person. With all due credit to Miss Addams, her forte is not biography. Though her intentions are evident and generous. Limited market.
