CAMERONS ON THE HILLS

The energetic children-- Shona, 13, Neil, 11, and Donald, 7 --of Camerons in the Train (1963, p. 514, J-172) are back again, and in the same location-- their unt's highland home in Scotland. The three direct their attention to Ben Vannich, the highest hill nearby, and decide to climb to its summit. Their aunt, realizing the dangers of fog, etc., forbids it, but takes them instead part way up to visit Angus, an old shepherd. Adventure strikes again, this time in the form of a plane crash on the mountain. Everyone helps with the rescue work, and in the end, Neil confesses that his idea of climbing Ben Vannich was childish and foolish; he now sees the power of the highlands. The plot is not as tightly organized, nor is it as fast-paced as in the first book which was a notch higher in quality.
