THE MAJESTY OF GRACE

Pub Date: March 1st, 1961

A deep understanding of the function of fantasy in a child's life is the basis for this sound story, both touching and instructive, laced through with remarkably funny dialogue. "Ordinary" Grace Jones day dream from her resemblance to Princess Elizabeth that she is the true heir to the British throne. Living in Cleveland during the difficult Depression years, Grace, her family and friends actually spend most of their time devising ingenious ways of having fu cheaply. When a wealthy but unfriendly neighbor is arrested for embezzlement, Grace's illusions explode. Her family had faced the hard times. The realization that she is not ordinary at all, that her virtues make her the one and only Grace Jones, replaces her dependence on a fantasy life. There is profound truth in the lesson of this story, charmingly told, richly humorous, realistic to the core.
