This farfetched, overwritten little story does have a certain desirable uberance. Eleven year old Callie and aging Uncle Patch, both goat-crazy farm overs, are too good-- too flawless-- to be realistic, but for all their one-track-indedness, they are amusing and energetic to the onlooker. Absolutes reign here-- here are the good people and the villains. When the villains try to rob Patch of his antiques, Callie (aided by a friend and a goat) manages to capture the bad en in between delivery of two baby goats. If the author can learn to exercise restraint and keep the freshness she has here, a superior book may appear in the future.
