CRISPIN'S ACRES

By

Publisher: Oxford

One of these books of doubtful appeal, from the child's viewpoint. The story of the friendship between an old man and a boy of eight, and into this woven bits of history, of facts about Noah Webster and his times -- while the events of a New England town today unroll. The story culminates in the strawberry festival held at old Mr. Crispin's home, an event made successful by the children. The conversation seems a bit stilted -- the children not quite real.
