DOGS AND PUPPIES

A little bit about breeds, care, first aid and dog body language for the first time owner. As in Cats and Kittens (1974) Rockwell combines generally restrained and humane advice (she speaks in favor of spaying and castrating) along with reassuring personal examples. This is probably enough to make new puppy owners feel secure, and the studio portraits of popular breeds may satisfy some browsers, but anyone with serious intentions to train his dog will need more help and those who really want to plumb their pets' psyches might take a stab at Michael Fox's adult Understanding Your Dog. Barely adequate.
