JANE BOUTELLE'S LIFETIME FITNESS FOR WOMEN

Jane Boutelle's program for overall fitness consists of a series of natural-actions (rather than exercises) specifically designed for female bodies: e.g., the Kitten Curl instead of push-ups because female shoulder muscles tend to be small. Written in collaboration with Samm Sinclair Baker, who co-authored Dr. Stillman's books, it's smoothly presented if a bit repetitive and chirpy (""try pronouncing the hard-sounding word, 'EX-ER-CISE,' as contrasted with the smooth-flowing word, 'natural' ""), but it has several features which may well appeal to women: separate sequences for beginners and those who've worked out for a while, plus programs adapted for getting in shape for particular sports and for alleviating such conditions as low back pain and arthritis--once one has received medical approval. Back-of-magazine advertisement promises (""You will see and feel thrilling improvement in your figure and grace within, one week!"") and a few new tricks.
